Endemage Dubai Fashion Show

I will be the first person to admit that the world of high fashion is often nothing more than a group of self-congratulating, out-of-touch egomaniacs. It takes a special kind of insanity to imagine that any piece of clothing, no matter material, quality and/or ingenuity of design, warrants the kind of prices that are so commonplace for designer labels.

That being said, I love fashion! The colors, the fabrics, the shapes, the patterns! Ooh la la!

Although I’m a little too late to start commenting on the fashion collections from New York, Paris, London or Milan’s fashion weeks…I have made it in time for Dubai! Dubai Fashion Week is perhaps the most unique show collection on the international fashion circuit, as it is the only event to take place in the Middle East, largely featuring designers from Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan and India.

The first collection that has caught my eye is Endemage’s 2016 Spring-Summer Collection. Created by Omani sisters Lubna and Nadia Al Zakwani, this collection was inspired by the tropical island of Zanzibar. Pastels paired with neutrals, fairly conservative for the fashion world (read: tasteful) cuts and beautiful embroidery earn this collection The Taste Maven Stamp of Approval.

So, congratulations Lubna and Nadia! I know you will never know or care about this honor we have just bestowed upon you, but I hope it brings you good luck all the same.
