In Celebration of Novelty Purses: Kate Spade

There are a lot of adorable purses out there. But Kate Spade New York has kind of got a corner on the market when it comes to cutesy and compact clutches. One of my favorite shopping websites, Gilt, which features new sales on limited numbers of designers items every day at noon, is running a special on Kate Spade New York today. In honor of that, I’d like to feature some of my favorite Kate Spade novelty purses, past and present.

You may notice that I have not included any of the classic Kate Spade satchels or wallets. While I absolutely adore those colorful and sleek items that Kate Spade is so well known for, I think these are the most fun to look at. I will also note that NONE of the following items are under $100. That does not mean that Kate Spade items can’t be found for less than that, but it is hard to do and they will usually only be smaller items such as card holders…unless you happen to have the inside scoop on where to find some illegal bag shops in NYC…which I will neither confirm nor deny. *wink

Here are a couple of purses I’ve loved from afar:

If you’ve made it this far without taking out your credit card and throwing it at your screen, GOOD JOB! And here are some treats for you, because as I advertised just a paragraph or two ago, there are some discounted options.

These are my (still very expensive) favorites on sale currently on the Kate Spade New York website:

And some even better prices from Gilt, which will require for you to sign up. On the plus side, membership is free, and they feature sales on women’s clothing, men’s clothing, children’s clothing, home appliances, home decor, shoes, AND TRAVEL. On the minus side, they will send you one email per day. If you don’t think your inbox can handle that kind of pressure, signing up may not be for you.

And just for fun, here are a couple more Kate Spade novelty clutches/wristlets/crossbodys/what-have-you’s that I don’t have links for. I’m leaving the hunt up to you.
