My First Post! So…Welcome Me, You and Everyone We Know?

I love opulence just as much as the next American. As a little girl my mother and I used to ride around in the car along the back roads of Westchester for fun, just to look at all the pretty houses. I was too little to know town or road names, so when my mother asked me which road I wanted to go down I would designate them by numbers, since “Cantitoe”, “Succabone” and “Guard Hill” were too much to remember. My mother would ask me what I liked, what I didn’t like, and eventually we’d decide whether the homes earned our Taste Maven Stamp of Approval or our Taste Maven Stamp of Disapproval.

I intend to take this another step further and to apply my criticism and unwelcome opinions to many other areas including fashion, literature, music, television, cinema, travel and any other thing I damn well feel like blabbing about…because I am a fucking lady.

So in honor of my mother, who is very much alive and would probably prefer to not be tied to my inane internet ramblings (sorry, Mom!), I will continue her good work and keep the tradition of The Taste Maven alive! As Mr. Bennet says to Lizzie Bennet in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice “For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbors, and laugh at them in our turn?”

I’m sure our beginning here will be slow and bumpy and unpolished, but I do hope you come back to see what we come up with!

Thank you,

The Taste Maven

Having the vocabulary of a well educated sailor makes you no less of a fucking lady. Best of luck on your future shit n’ stuff.
